It doesn't make much sense to heat up and light the entire Smith Opera House, which seats 1400, while the expected turn-out is only a few hundred. In order to save on electricity, while also provide stellar entertainment, the Smith is looking to outside venues for concerts and events in their "Smith Club Series."
They had two trials: one concert at Club 86 and another at Hobart William Smith, and both were highly successful. Executive Director Kelly Bradley says you have to get a little creative when it comes to venues.
Don't worry... there will still be shows at the Smith.
Bradley says that the next two events are being held at Ventosa Vineyards and the Cracker Factory, and they're always looking to expand their venue options.
Jessica Lea and David Mayfield will be performing at Ventosa Vineyards November 30th at 7:30.
