The Ithaca Police Department responded to not one, but two bicycle accidents yesterday. At around 9:20 Friday morning, police, along with the Ithaca Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance responded to the 100 block of Stone Quarry Road. Witnesses to the accident told police that the bicyclist, a 66-year old Town of Ithaca resident, was riding northbound on Stone Quarry Road and lost control of his bike. He was taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre PA where he is listed in critical condition.
Then Ithaca police responded to a second bicycle accident. Friday afternoon around 4:00, a 51-year old Newfield resident was riding his bike down Giles Street and was approaching the intersection of Water Street when he lost control of his bike. That bicyclist suffered facial and other bodily injures. He was also taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA where he is listed in serious condition.
