AUBURN -- Kathleen and Jon Carnes have three children in the Auburn school district, and Kathleen has started a letter-writing campaign to try and bring more state education aid to the district.
Carnes, and many others, say Auburn is being badly shortchanged by Albany, and that many programs could be cut to close a $5.1 million budget deficit.
Auburn Superintendent J.D. Pabis says the Gov. Cuomo, repeatedly, promised every school district would get a 4.1 percent increase in aid this year. But, Pabis says, while many districts are getting that kind of increase, or substantially more, Auburn is getting only 2.2 percent more in state aid compared to last year.
