The 77th Annual Hill Cumorah Pageant starts Friday at 9:15 on the hillside just off Route 21 between Manchester and Palmyra. Hill Cumorah is where Joseph Smith is said to have received the golden plates in 1827 that were translated into the Book of Mormon, the founding moment for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Pageant President Dwight Schendeman says again this year they have in the neighborhood of 735 actors will be on stage at one point or another during 75 minute performance. Movements have to be well choreographed with that many people involved.
As it has been in the past, the Pageant is still free.
