NY Officers Join Seven other States in "Operation Border to Border"

State Police and the Steuben County Sheriff's Department recently took part in a traffic safety initiative called "Operation Border to Border."  It involved not only New York law enforcement, but officers from several other states including, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

The purpose of the drill was to coordinate traffic safety between various jurisdictions along U.S. Route 15, the future I-99 Corridor from New York to Florida - a distance of approximately 1,400 miles. Operation Border to Border is a strict law enforcement effort meant to ensure that travel to destinations along the east coast highway can be done in relative safety.

As travel along the future I-99 corridor increases, so too does criminal activity.  During the 72 hour targeted campaign from June 13th. to June 15th., there were no reports of personal injury accidents or motor vehicle fatalities.
