Cuomo Announces Compromise Reached On Heroin Bill

Governor Andrew Cuomo, flanked by Legislative leaders this afternoon, announced that a compromise has been reached on legislation that targets the current heroin epidemic. There will be a three prong approach. First they will make it easier for insurance companies to cover treatment for addicts.

Penalties will be stiffer for people selling heroin.

There is also an education component.

Cuomo says the heroin problem is worse than it was in the '60's and '70's because the drug is cheaper and stronger than it used to be and it's being abused by younger people.
