Swedish Hill Winery and Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards Tops In NY Wine Contest

Once again, the state's best winery is in Seneca County.

Swedish Hill Winery in Fayette was named the "Best Winery" for a second straight year. Swedish Hill won the award after picking up five double gold medals which requires unanimous votes from the judging panel. The five double gold medals were for its Riesling Cuvee, Druy Riseling, Cabernet Frac, and Cayuga White. Overall Swedish Hill won 19 awards for its wines.

The "Best of Show" winning wine came from Schuyler County. Hazlitt's 2012 Solera Sherry picked up that award. Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards is off Route 414 in Hector.

The awards will be handed out at the New York State Fair in August.
