It's possible the Tyre Town Board could approve Wilmorite's application to build a casino resort along Route 414 in the Town of Tyre when it meets tonight. A recent court ruling that effectively shutdown any credible chance of legally blocking the development has left the field wide open for Wilmorite to push ahead with its plans to build the $350 million project.
Bob Seem, the Chairman of the Tyre Town Planning Board, says the Town's acceptance of the Wilmorite application is not the only hurdle that the developer needs to clear in order to meet the state's deadline for application submittal:
Seem says a number of issues need to be ironed out between the Town and the developer including signage for the resort. He says the resort intends to install the signs so they will be visible from the Thruway, but not so much from the surrounding rural community. Wilmorite, which created a separate corporation called Whitetail 414 to develop and manage the operation will call the finished project: the Wilmot Casino and Resort.
