The president of Hobart and William Smith Colleges has been confirmed as the head of the New York State Gaming Commission. In a news release, Governor Andrew Cuomo says Mark Gearan was approved in a unanimous vote in the state Senate. Gearan, who has been the colleges' president for 15 years, says he's honored to take on the high-profile role in encouraging economic development statewide. The commission oversees all gaming and gambling in the Empire State, including Cuomo's four proposed casinos around New York State.
