SHARE NOW

Ontario County sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle fire Thursday just after 3 p.m. in a parking lot near Macy’s at Eastview Mall after a car began smoking and then became fully engulfed in flames, authorities said.

Deputies said the driver, 18-year-old Arianna Paradise, was traveling southbound on Route 96 with a passenger, 18-year-old Sidney Jones, when they noticed smoke coming from their 2004 Hyundai Elantra. Paradise safely drove into the mall parking lot, away from other vehicles, and both occupants exited the car before it caught fire.

The vehicle was fully engulfed by the time emergency crews arrived. The Victor Fire Department, Egypt Fire Department and Eastview Mall security assisted at the scene.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
