Let's Talk Community Night

May is Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month and in efforts to raise awareness the Health Education Team, from Geneva Community Health is planning Let’s Talk Community Night on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013. Our R.E.A.L Peer Educators from Geneva High School will be helping us host the event for the community. Our Peer Educators are a group of High School students who participated in a summer training program and who are seen as resources and advocates for their peers. R.E.A.L. stands for Responsible for Every Action in Life!
We are inviting both parents and youth to attend this event; we will watch a short video, discuss teen pregnancy prevention and be giving Health Center tours! Dee Brezinsky, FNP will also be helping out; she’ll be speaking about current trends, Gardasil and talking tips for parents.
Please join us from 5:30 to 7:00 in the waiting room of Geneva Community Health to talk about teen pregnancy prevention. This event is free and open to the public (there will be food and door prizes), so please invite anyone that may be interested. Please see the flyer for all the details!

Blood Drive at Ontario ARC

A Red Cross blood drive will be held at the Ontario ARC, 3071 County Complex Drive, Canandaigua, on Wednesday, May 22, from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. You may be eligible to give blood if you are in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and are 16 or older. Taylor-Brown Golf Tournament

The Taylor-Brown Auxiliary is sponsoring its 17th annual golf tournament on Friday, June 7, at the Seneca Falls Country Club to benefit the residents of the Huntington Living Center. Anyone interested in participating is invited to contact Linda Quackenbush at (315) 539-8163; Parthena Freeman at (315) 787-4920; or Debbie Lockett, Assistant Administratorat Huntington Living Center, at (315) 787-4949. The tournament is a four-person scramble and teams are being formed now. The cost is $65 per golfer, which includes a golf cart, lunch, full dinner, basket drawings, and a hole-in-one contest. Shotgun start begins at 10 a.m. Sponsorship opportunities are available and interested businesses may contact a member of the organizing committee. Taylor-Brown Auxiliary supports the residents of the Huntington Living Center through special projects and fundraising events throughout the year.
Live Music: Rebecca Colleen and the Chore Lads

On Wednesday, May 22 at 6pm the Penn Yan Public Library will host a two-hour concert with Rebecca Colleen and the Chore Lads.
Rebecca Colleen McDonald has been singing as long as can be remembered. Her rich, compelling voice and dialog between songs draws the audience in with ease. Rebecca Colleen and the Chore Lads perform a variety of acoustic, folk, country, gospel and bluegrass music. The Chore Lads feature Peter McDonald on fiddle, banjo, guitar and vocals, Perry Cleaveland on Mandolin and vocals and Douglas Henrie on bass—all of whom have a long list of musical accomplishments. With their three-part harmonies, the performance is accomplished, lively and not to be missed.
