Artists Wanted for Seneca Falls Art Walk 2015

The Seneca Falls Business Association, in conjunction with the Seneca County Arts Council, will hold the second annual Seneca Falls Art Walk in downtown Seneca Falls Friday, May 15, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with receptions, music and dinner specials. The event will continue on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with music on the street, additional artist booths and sidewalk sales. Throughout the downtown area, businesses will turn a portion of their space into art galleries for local painters, sculptors, ceramists, woodworkers and photographers to display their work.

Interested artists should contact the Seneca County Arts Council at scac109@gmail.com referencing Art Walk or call Beverly Lombardo 315-568-6137. Deadline for submission of interest is May 1.

Arts and Crafts Show

Thompson Health Guild will present the fourth annual Springtime in Canandaigua juried art and craft show Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 27, at the Greater Canandaigua Civic Center, 250 North Bloomfield Road, during the following times:
Friday, April 24, 3-7 PM, Saturday, April 25 10 AM-5 PM, Sunday, April 26 10 AM-4PM
A talented field of 90 artists from 8 states will display and sell their works, including painting, pottery, sculpture, wood carvings, jewelry, photography, glass fiber, gourmet foods and much more. Jurying of these participating artists’ works will take place on Friday, with an awards presentation in the evening. A number of gardening seminars will be scheduled throughout the weekend.
The fundraiser’s 2015 beneficiary is Thompson Health’s Laurie Sands and Constellation Brands Breast Imaging Center. This innovative facility will create a patient-centered continuum of care currently unavailable in the Finger Lakes region.

4-H Spring Fling - Entomology

Youth grades k-8 will enjoy learning about millipedes, spiders, grasshoppers, slugs, crickets and many more invertebrates through hands on activites.

Cost is $5 for Cayuga County 4-H Members and $7 for Non-Cayuga County 4-H Members.  Must be pre-registered for this event.  Call 315-255-1183 ext. 238.

Opening Reception and Exhibit: Yates County Student Art Show

The students in the Yates County Schools (Penn Yan, Dundee and Rushville) present a show of their artwork with prizes being awarded in several categories.  Refreshments will be provided and all are welcome to view the works of these talented young artists.  This exhibit is hosted at the Arts Center of Yates County, 127 Main Street, Penn Yan, and will be held on Friday, April 24th from 7:00PM to 9:00PM.  Admission is free.

SCP's Things My Mother Taught Me

Seneca Community Players opens it's 2015 season with "Things My Mother Taught Me" by Katherine DiSavino. Olivia and Gabe have just packed up all of their belongings and driven halfway across the country, to start a new life together in Chicago. Can a two bedroom apartment contain all of the love, laughs, worry and wisdom that's about to happen when all of their parents show up to help?

 

Show times are Friday 4/24 and Saturday 4/25 at 8pm and Sunday 4/26 at 2pm. The show continues Friday 5/1 and Saturday 5/2 at 8pm.
