Sing Into Spring---Chase the Winter Blues Away!

Off with the old and ON with the new!

Canandaigua, New York- All over the globe, Sweet Adelines International choruses are joining together to teach the world to sing. Women of all ages who enjoy singing are invited to attend a rehearsal of Seneca Soundwaves Chorus and the Good Sheperd Church at 320 South Pearl Street in Canandaigua any Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11:45 am. Seneca Soundwaves Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an organization of nearly 25,000 women worldwide who sing four-part a cappella harmony, barbershop style.

The Seneca Soundwaves members share a love for music and singing barbershop harmony. As a member, you too can experience the exhilartation of performing and singing with the Seneca Soundwaves Chorus. Any women of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range with the help of the chorus' musical leaders and director(s).

The Seneca Soundwaves Chorus performs regularly throughout the community, offering its talent for entertainment at civic events and charitable functions. This summer we will sing at the Waterloo Memorial Day celebration and the Relay For Life in Manchester, NY.

Woodlot Volunteers Sought

Cornell University, Ithaca, NY - Woodlot owners need other woodlot owners. Cornell Cooperative Extension is looking for a few good forest owner volunteers to meet and work with their neighbors. The NY Master Forest Owner Program is entering its 24th year and is looking to fill up its new volunteer training workshop. Volunteers who complete the 4-day workshop will join the corps of over 200 certified volunteers across the state. September 7-10, 2016 at Cornell University’s Arnot Teaching and Research Forest, VanEtten, NY (south of Ithaca in Schuyler County.

Volunteers can commute daily or free accommodations are available. There is a $125.00 fee ($200.00 per couple) that helps defray lodging, publications, food, and equipment costs of the 4-day training. The workshop combines classroom and outdoor field experiences on a wide variety of subjects including: tree identification, finding boundaries, forest ecology, wildlife and sawtimber management, communication techniques, and a visit to a nearby sawmill. The goal of the MFO Program is to provide private forest owners with the information and encouragement necessary to manage their forests to enhance ownership satisfaction. MFOs do not perform management activities nor give professional advice. Rather, they meet with other forest owners to listen to their concerns and questions, and offer advice as to sources of assistance based on their training and personal experience.
