Fish Stocking Program

Ontario County Soil and Water Conservation District provides habitat improvement services, to include sponsoring two fish stocking programs to area residents. Annually, the District offers rainbow trout, koi, largemouth bass, triploid grass carp, yellow perch, catfish and fathead minnows in the fall.

Rose Hill Mansion Opens

The Rose Hill Mansion will open for the 2015 season on Friday, May 1. Administered by the Geneva Historical Society, the Greek Revival mansion and National Historical Landmark perches above Seneca Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes.
Rose Hill Mansion is located at 3373 Route 96A, about a mile south of Routes 5&20, near Geneva, New York. The house is open May 1 to October 31, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Mondays and July 4. The last daily tour is at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, at 4 p.m. on Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sundays. The grounds are open year round, free of charge.

2020 Vision Meeting

The Community Design Center of Rochester (CDCR) partnered with local residents, business owners, and other stakeholders in Penn Yan, to create the Penn Yan community Vision Plan. "The plan outlines the steps that can help assure a prosperous future for the Village", said Roger Brown, CDCR architect, who will present a summary of the plan on September 1st, 6 PM in the Village Hall at 111 Elm Street Room 202 in Penn Yan, New York.
The vision presented in the plan includes pedestrian friendly streets, increased accessibility to the waterfront, and welcoming signage to guide residents and visitors. It highlights over 50 recommended strategies and projects that can help Penn Yan achieve its future potential including a dog park, boardwalks along Village Waterways and creating transportation alternatives for our Mennonite and Amish Communities as well as cyclists and pedestrians.
2020 Vision, a local grassroots organization, worked with CDCR in preparation of the plan. Several projects that can be started immediately will also be presented at the September first community meeting.
Everyone is encouraged to attend the 2020 Vision Plan Presentation on September 1st and it is open to the public.
