Zen Meditation
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

On Saturday, Oct. 22, author and long-time meditation teacher and practitioner Nanci Rose-Ritter will host a workshop and retreat in the style of Japanese Zen Buddhist sesshin (literally "heart-mind"), which refers to a focused period of group meditation and personal guidance.

Offering the HWS community a calming introspective retreat from the world's demands, the day will include information and discussion on specific meditation techniques and philosophy. Held in Stern Hall, Room 201, the workshop and retreat will be conducted in two segments from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a lunch break in between. Participants should bring cushions for floor sitting, though chairs will be available if needed.

Rose-Ritter, the author of "Living Tibet" (which includes a foreword by the Dalai Lama), has been a teacher and intensive practitioner for many years, in both Japanese and Tibetan Buddhist methods. Founder of Life's Changes Counseling, she holds a graduate certificate in Trauma Counseling, is in private practice near Geneva, and facilitates public groups on grief, trauma, Buddhism, meditation and women's spirituality.

For questions, contact Nanci Rose-Ritter at mindfulnanci@gmail.com, or 315-651-2570. Participation is limited so reserve a spot by emailing Associate Professor of Religious Studies John Krummel at krummel@hws.edu.
