Rose Hill Mansion Opens

The Rose Hill Mansion will open for the 2015 season on Friday, May 1. Administered by the Geneva Historical Society, the Greek Revival mansion and National Historical Landmark perches above Seneca Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes.

Rose Hill Mansion is located at 3373 Route 96A, about a mile south of Routes 5&20, near Geneva, New York. The house is open May 1 to October 31, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Mondays and July 4. The last daily tour is at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, at 4 p.m. on Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sundays. The grounds are open year round, free of charge.

Veterans Memorial Dedication

The Vine Valley Community House’s Veterans’ Memorial will be dedicated on May 30th at 11 AM.  The VFW Color Guard will raise the flag on our new flagpole, and Hap Metivier, a WWII veteran, will speak.  We will salute all veterans in attendance.  
 
Pavers engraved with the name. rank, and service of veterans will be placed around the flagpole.  Please contact Sue Ford 554-7051 for information about these pavers. They can also be purchased the day of the ceremony.
 
Virginia Mathony whose family owned The Willow Grove Hotel made a substantial donation to the Memorial.  She was also a veteran serving as a Specialist Q First Class in the WAVES during WWII. 
 
Following the ceremony hotdogs will be for sale, and there will be free cake and ice cream.
First FLX Pride Festival

The [LGBTQ] Center of the Finger Lakes is holding the first Finger Lakes Pride Festival, to be held in Geneva.  The festival will be a day filled with entertainment and activities, focusing on the diversity of the Finger Lakes area And celebrating our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning community.

Tickets are $10 for those 21+, $5 for ages 13-20, or 12 and under are free.
