Krossin' Keuka

Krossin' Keuka, is  a .67 mile fun swim across beautiful Keuka Lake, off the shore of Keuka College. 200 Swimmers will enter the water by 7am, Sat. July 26th.  They will be escorted by paddlers and marine patrol and greeted with breakfast on the shore.  They swim to support the Keuka Comfort Care Home through fund raising in the form of sponsorships. 

Sponsors can help them achieve their goal by going to krossinkeuka.org.  All the swimmers and paddlers are listed.  You can look through the list and find the swimmer or paddler you wish to sponsor and fill out the information.

 There is no cost for the course & lunch will be provided.

Canandaigua Farmers Market

Every Saturday from June 7th through October 25th the Canandaigua Farmer’s Market vendors offer farm fresh and local products including jams and jellies, mustards and maple syrup as well as mountains of fresh salad greens, brightly colored vegetables, sweet smelling flowers and plants, freshly baked goodies and golden local honey – just to name a few of the goodies available each week.

 It is the 13th year of operation and its Ontario County's only farmer-run market.  The Canandaigua Farmers Market is an association of farmers and small scale food processors consisting of approximately 30 vendors who live within a limited radius of Canandaigua, NY.

The market hours are from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM each Saturday and is located in the pavilion on Mill Street, one block east of Main Street and runs from June 1st to Oct. 27th rain or shine from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm.  Just follow the yellow Farmers Market signs.  Sign up for a weekly email that will tell you what special items will be available that week – or learn more about the vendors by clicking on the   “meet the vendor page” on the market’s web site at www.canandaiguafarmersmarket.com   or like the Canandaigua-Farmer’s Market on Facebook.

Finger Lakes Cheese Festival

Sample all the cheeses of the Finger Lakes Cheese Trail in one place at this day-long family event at Sunset View Creamery just outside of Watkins Glen. Along with our creameries, we've invited our neighbors, so there will be plenty of local farms and vendors sampling and selling, along with a few of our favorite wineries and breweries! Live music will be performed all day in the dining tent. And there will be plenty of activities to keep everyone busy all day: Barnyard Olympics, games for all ages, goat milking, petting zoo, farm tours, hayrides, mechanical bull riding, bossy bingo, cheese making classes, cooking with cheese demos by top regional chefs, wine and beer pairing seminars, and more. 

BBQ, juice, water, and local foods will also be available for purchase - in addition to all the cheeses from all the creameries on the Trail!

Jane Austen Day at Rose Hill Mansion

On Saturday, July 26 at Rose Hill Mansion step into Jane Austen’s world and experience a taste of early 19th-century life in the Finger Lakes region. Throughout the day, participants can encounter War of 1812 re-enactors, hear gallery talks about the ritual of tea or the Rose Family, try writing with a quill pen, and sample period foods in the Rose Hill kitchen. At 11:30 a.m. Master Gardner John Fouracre will explore gardening in Regency England, and at 1 p.m. the Country Dancers of Rochester will give demonstrations of English Country Dancing accompanied by live music of the period. There will be period clothing, needlework, and tea services on display in the house. The public is encouraged to enter the period picnic contest and to come dressed in Regency fashions.

Jane Austen Day runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is to Jane Austen Day is $5and includes entrance to the mansion. Jane Austen Day is free for members of the Geneva Historical Society.

Rose Hill Mansion is located at 3373 Route 96A, about a mile south of Routes 5&20, near Geneva, New York.

Red Cross Blood Drive

The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at South Seneca Elementary School, Route 96, Romulus, NY, 14847, on Monday, July 28, 2014, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

You are eligible to give blood if you are in generally good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and are 16 years of age or older.

Finger Lakes Chamber Music Festival

Finger Lakes Chamber Music Festival presents world class music experienced upfront and casual with a performance by the String Quintet from the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, Richard Auldon Clark, artistic director. The program will include: Dvorak's "Sonatina in G op. 100, Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Phantasy Quintet", and Beethoven's "String Quintet op. 29. The concert will be held at beautiful Hunt Country Vineyards in Branchport and includes a reception and opportunity to meet the musicians. The venue is air-conditioned and wheel chair accessible. Tickets are $20 (students free) may be purchesed at the door the night of the concert or on line at the FLCMF website.
