Wreaths Across America

The Cayuga Community College Criminal Justice Club in Cooperation with Dana L. West High School Students are currently taking orders for the Wreaths Across America Project. 

Students are currently raising funds to support Wreaths Across America’s local effort. Wreaths Across America (WAA) is a national nonprofit organization whose mission - Remember, Honor and Teach - is a carried out each year within our Cayuga County Community.

Individuals wishing to purchase a wreath to use as a remembrance for a loved one especially a member of our US Military or as a decoration for their home are encouraged to place an order. Businesses’ are also encouraged to purchase the wreaths for their employees and families.

The 22 inch Maine Balsam Wreaths. Wreaths cost $15.00 per wreath.

Wreaths Across America (WAA) is a national nonprofit organization whose mission - Remember, Honor and Teach - is a carried out each year in part through the laying of wreaths on National Wreaths Across America Day each December. There will be a local remembrance ceremony sponsored by the Dana L. West and CCC CJ Club students and the Cayuga County Vietnam Veteran’s Chapter 704 at St. Peter and St. John’s Episcopal Church at 169 Genesee Street, Auburn, New York 13021 on National Wreaths Across America Day, Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015.

An invitation to attend the ceremony is extended to all who wish to remember and honor the sacrifices made by our military personnel that keep our nation strong and allows our citizens to enjoy freedom. The ceremony also provides an opportunity to teach future generations the price of our freedom

About Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begun by Maine businessman, Morrill Worcester, in 1992. Seeking Nativity Scenes

The Real Christmas Committee is seeking homemade 3D Nativity scenes for a public display.  These scenes are to be no larger than 12 inches by 18 inches with all ages and ideas being accepted.  Families are encouraged to work together on this project. Scenes are to be dropped off by December 3 at St. Francis-St. Clare Ministry Center (former St. Mary School), 35 Center Street.  For more information contact Laurel Callahan at 315-539-2487.

Walking Trail

In partnership with Our Town Rocks (OTR), Dundee Central School is pleased to share the opening of the  DCS Walking Trail. The DCS Walking Trail is a walking course that has been identified for community members to walk inside the school building during the cold winter months. One course includes stairs and a second does not. The Walking Trail is clearly marked and can be accessed by parking by the outside basketball court and using the entrance by the nurse's office. The Walking Trail is open to the public on days that school is in session, Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 7:15 am and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Working together to promote health and wellness in our community!

State of the State Address
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Join the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce for the opportunity to learn more about what’s happening across the State of New York. Senator Tom O’Mara, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, and Alison Hunt from Congressman Tom Reed’s office will present the State of the State Address. They will discuss the current state of affairs and 2016 priorities. Cargill Salt, Inc., Schuyler Hospital, and Hector Wine Company have generously sponsored the event.
