Summer Flowering Bulbs
2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Saturday,  March 28, 2015

2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ontario County

480 North Main Street, Canandaigua, NY

Canandaigua, NY-Summer-flowering bulbs can provide bright, bold colors in the garden. Some, like dahlias and tuberous begonias, bloom continuously until frost. Others, such as gladioli, have shorter blooming seasons, but successive plantings can provide blooms over an extended period. Except for lilies, most summer-flowering bulbs are not winter hardy here and must be taken up in the fall to survive. Master Gardener Ken Harbison will discuss the culture of a number of bulbs. Topics include starting indoors for earlier bloom, planting, propagating, insect and disease control, pruning, taking up in the fall, and winter storage.

Fee: $10.00/family
