Photograph Drawing

The Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is conducting a drawing for two beautiful photographs taken and donated by Pauline Champlin. One photo is “Sunflowers in the Finger Lakes” and the other is “Apple Orchard & Keuka Lake in Springtime”. 

The photographs are being displayed in the main lobby of the hospital, 418 North Main Street, Penn Yan. Tickets are available at the Peppermint Parlor at Soldiers & Sailors, from members of the Auxiliary and volunteers at Soldiers & Sailors. Tickets are $1 each; 3 for $2 or 10 for $5. The drawing will be held on Friday, May 2. The holder of the first ticket drawn will get to pick the photograph he/she wants and the other one will go to the holder of the second ticket drawn. 

Proceeds from the drawing will be used by the Auxiliary to supports projects at the Hospital and Homestead, including the annual fund to enhance access to healthcare for area residents.

American Red Cross Blood Drive
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Every blood donation can be used to save up to three lives.  You may be eligible to give blood if you are in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and are 17 or older (16 with signature on parental release form available at blood drive sites). You are always welcome to walk in but appointments are suggested.

Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension will be hosting a series of free webinars for home water well owners in April. 

Water Well Flooding: What Do You Do?

 April 17th, 1 p.m. Eastern Time 

Presenter: Michael Schnieders is a professional geologist and hydrologist, and senior consultant for Water Systems Engineering in Ottawa, Kansas. 

In this Webinar, you will learn what to do and not to do if your well is infiltrated by flood waters. You will learn how best to restore your water quality and the functioning of your water well system. 

These webinars will be held in the Conference Room at Seneca County CCE. Our office is located at 308 Main Street Shop Center in Waterloo, NY.

Every Thursday local celebrities will be front and center at the pasta buffet station to serve guests their freshly created dish of pasta.  A portion of the proceeds, each evening, will be donated to the charity of the Chef’s choice.  At the conclusion of the celebrity guest chef series, Glenora Wine Cellars matches the donation to the charity that brings in the most patrons.  Over the last seven years, Glenora Wine Cellars has donated more than $10,000 to local charities. 

Guests receives a fresh garden salad, a bread basket at their table, and unlimited trips to the pasta station.  At the pasta station, the Celebrity Chef  (with help from Veraisons staff), creates a custom-made dish of pasta from a selection of homemade sauces and ingredients including an array of meats, fresh vegetables, garlic and herbs.

Students are taught the skills they need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.  This is a partial online class. Participants must complete the online portion prior to the skills session on the 17th.
