Please welcome Boston soprano Jean Danton and pianist Nancy James as they present an evening of timeless Broadway classics at the historic Willard Chapel in Auburn. Ms. Danton, a native of Auburn, and Ms. James, from Syracuse, will perform show tunes of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Gershwin, Porter, Sondheim and more!
Ms. Danton’s artistry has led to acclaimed performances in a variety of musical genres throughout the United States and Europe in opera, oratorio, recitals, and as a soloist with symphony orchestras and at many prestigious music festivals. Her distinguished and comprehensive professional resume includes appearances with the Boston Pops Orchestra with Keith Lockhart and Bruce Hangen, the Oregon Bach Festival with Helmuth Rilling, the Breckenridge Music Festival, and the Associazione Culturale in Italy. She made her Carnegie Hall debut with the Masterwork Chorus and her Lincoln Center debut at Avery Fisher Hall with the National Chorale, in both instances presenting Handel’s Messiah. Ms. Danton is on the voice faculty at several institutions including the New England Conservatory and Boston College. For more information about Jean Danton, see her website at www.jeandanton.com.
Ms. Danton is thrilled to be performing in Auburn, where she was born, and with her great friend and wonderful pianist, Nancy James! Ms. James is no stranger to vocal performance herself. She is an Adjunct Professor of Voice at Syracuse University, Hamilton College and SUNY Oswego. She has performed with the former Syracuse Symphony, the Syracuse Opera and has toured in Italy and Austria.
Tickets for this concert are $10 at the door. Proceeds benefit the Willard Chapel. The chapel’s main entrance is on the south-facing side of the building, reached via Nelson Street. A fully accessible entrance is located off Seymour Street on the building’s north side. Please call the chapel at (315) 252-0339 for more information, or visit our website at www.willardchapel.org.
