Ionia Fall Festival

17th Annual Ionia Fall Festival, Saturday, September 20th , all day long, sponsored by the Ionia United Methodist Church & held at the Ionia Firemen’s Grounds on County Road #14, Ionia, NY, just off Route 64 & north of Routes 5 & 20.

Our Tractor Parade, now in its 11th year, has tractors from all over western NY and is one of the largest in western NY!   The parade begins at 1 PM, but you can look at the tractor & implement displays all day long.

Begin your day with a delicious Pancake Breakfast 7:30-10 AM, then later a Chicken BBQ 11:30 AM til sold out.  Hot dogs/hamburgers/etc. are served all day.

Canandaigua Farmers Market

Every Saturday from June 7th through October 25th the Canandaigua Farmer’s Market vendors offer farm fresh and local products including jams and jellies, mustards and maple syrup as well as mountains of fresh salad greens, brightly colored vegetables, sweet smelling flowers and plants, freshly baked goodies and golden local honey – just to name a few of the goodies available each week.

 It is the 13th year of operation and its Ontario County's only farmer-run market.  The Canandaigua Farmers Market is an association of farmers and small scale food processors consisting of approximately 30 vendors who live within a limited radius of Canandaigua, NY.

The market hours are from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM each Saturday and is located in the pavilion on Mill Street, one block east of Main Street and runs from June 1st to Oct. 27th rain or shine from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm.  Just follow the yellow Farmers Market signs.  Sign up for a weekly email that will tell you what special items will be available that week – or learn more about the vendors by clicking on the   “meet the vendor page” on the market’s web site at www.canandaiguafarmersmarket.com   or like the Canandaigua-Farmer’s Market on Facebook.

Art in the Park

Finger Lakes Art Cooperative will be hosting Art in the Park on Saturday, September 20th at Hoopes Park in Auburn.  Artist will be exhibiting and selling their work at the event. There will also be entertainment, children's activities, and non-profit food booths.

Vendor applications are available on the FLAC web site at www.flartcoop.org or by visiting the gallery at 101 Genesee Street.  Deadline is September 1st.

Also this year is our 1st Annual Art in the Park Poster contest - details on our web site and at the gallery. Deadline is August 20th.

Red Cross Blood Drive

The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at the Reformed Church, 8315 North Main Street, Interlaken, NY, 14847, on Monday, September 22, 2014, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

You are eligible to give blood if you are in generally good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and are 16 years of age or older.

Bluegrass Concert

For the inaugural concert of its new Lake Country Hometown Music Series, Christ Episcopal Church in Willard, NY will have The Jesse Alexander Band from Lodi, NY perform on Saturday, September 20th at 4 PM on the church lawn, 1392 Main Street in Willard.  The concert is free and audience members are asked to bring their own chairs.  Refreshments will be available for purchase from Rylie’s Place, Willard’s family restaurant and convenience store. 

The Jesse Alexander Band is gaining a national reputation in the world of Bluegrass music and is the host band of “Pickin' in the Pasture”.  The annual festival just completed its 17th season of bringing “World Class Bluegrass” to the Finger Lakes. Jesse first appeared on stage when he was two years old with his friend Bob Paisley. He has since learned to play fiddle and mandolin and is also singing lead and harmony. 16 year old Jesse has recorded three albums and will be appearing at numerous festivals and events in the east this year. Jesse's sidemen include his dad Andy Alexander on banjo, his mother, Susan Alexander on upright bass, and his good friend Luke Parsnow on guitar.

Rhea LaVeck Memorial Concert Series

Calling all classical music-lovers in the Central New York region! Geneva Music Festival artistic director and violinist Geoffrey Herd will be offering a concert on Saturday, September 20th at the Pulaski Congregational Church in Pulaski, NY. Accompanied by Rob Auler on the piano, Herd is set to perform works of Brahms, Bach, and Gershwin to open the 2014-2015 LaVeck Concert Season. The performance will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m.
 
Saturday’s concert will kick off the Rhea LaVeck Memorial Concert Series, which aims to bring together high-quality musicians and an intimate environment for an accessible, welcoming listening experience. Following the concert, Herd and Auler will offer a meet-the-artists reception with refreshments.
