Bovine Reproduction and A.I. Training Course

  While proper artificial insemination technique is important in any farm’s reproductive program, understanding the cow’s anatomy and physiology is also essential.  In this two-day class, participants will learn the biology of bovine reproduction, giving them a better understanding of the whole reproductive system.  Hands-on practice with cows will teach them proper insemination technique.  The training will consist of both classroom sessions and hands-on practice.  Over the last week of September, Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Northwest New York Dairy, Livestock and Field Crops Team will offer two classes, one in Ontario County and one in Wyoming County.

Over the course of two days, students will learn the basics of bovine reproduction.  The course will offer as much hands-on practice as possible, but it’s important to note that this is a beginner’s course meant to teach the basics of artificial insemination.  Participants should expect to practice inseminating cows on a regular basis in order to become proficient.

Jonna Egli and Abraham Cohen of Genex Cooperative, Inc. will teach the class. 

$175 registration for enrollees of the NWNY Team. $225 for non-enrollees*.  Materials & lunches included both days.  Classes will be capped at 15 people per site.

St. Dominic's Clothing Sale

St. Dominic's Parish will hold its annual clothing sale Thursday 9/29 from 9-7, Friday 9/30 from 9-5 and Saturday 10/1 from 8-noon at St. Dominic's Church, Route 21 and West Main St. in Shortsville. Saturday, there will be a two dollar bag sale. Please, no early birds.

Beginning Friday, July 8 and continuing through Friday, Nov. 18, Geneva General Hospital will host Foodlink’s Curbside Market at 158 North Street in Geneva, right next door to the hospital. The Curbside Market that will offer fresh and healthy produce at an affordable price and will be open from 10 to 10:45 a.m. The public is welcome. 

The Curbside Market will accept cash, debit, EBT, and WIC/FMNP, and every $5 SNAP purchase gets a $2 bonus.

West Bloomfield Farmers Market

Historic Trinity Church is planning our 3rd Annual Denim & Diamonds Gala at the Seneca Falls Country Club on September 30 from 6 to 10 PM.

The musical event will include dinner and a silent auction, as well as a raffles and a chance to win a Diamond and other jewelry items.   

Last years event allowed us to contribute $4000 to the Seneca County House of concern. We also support the backpack program and Monthly Community dinners.  Tickets will be available Sept 1 at Robinette Jewelers, the Church Office and the Copy Shop.

Fundraising Painting Party
