Can Local Peaches
1:00 AM - 1:00 AM

Tuesday, September 1, 2015

6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Cornell Cooperative Extension

480 North Main Street

Canandaigua, NY 14424

Peaches are only here for a short time, so why not learn how to can them? I personally feel that peaches that you can yourself taste fresher and more like the real thing than store-bought canned peaches.  Plus, by buying local peaches, you are supporting our local growers.  Hope Galens, Ontario County Cornell Cooperative Extension's Local Food Educator will be leading a hands-on canning class to demonstrate how to can peaches in a light syrup.  Participants will also receive information on how to can other summer fruits. No prior canning experience is necessary and participants will each leave with a pint of homemade, canned peaches.

 Fee: $15 per person

Class size is limited to 10 participants.

Pre-registration is required by Friday, August 28, 2015 by contacting Nancy at nea8@cornell.edu or calling 585-394-3977 x 427 with your name, address, and phone number.
