That Their Lights May Shine
1:00 AM - 1:00 AM

The holidays are a special time for remembering loved ones, and one of the visible symbols of the true meaning of the season is the “That Their Lights May Shine” project, sponsored by the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

For a donation of $5.00 or more, individuals may have an ornament placed on the Hospital tree, as a special gift for friends or family, in honor or memory of someone they love or admire, in celebration of a birth or just as a “thinking of you” message. The tree is situated in the lobby by the main entrance of the Hospital, 418 North Main Street, Penn Yan. Each donation represents a gift of loving, sharing and remembering.

The ornament will bear the remembered person’s name and the donor’s name.

Donations for project may be sent to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, %Loree MacKerchar, 418 North Main Street, Penn Yan, NY  14527, telephone (315) 531-2053, or pick up a form for the project at the Hospital lobby.

Mobile Meals Volunteers Sought

Geneva General Hospital is looking for regularly scheduled volunteers for its Mobile Meals program. Volunteers typically choose one day a week to be scheduled.

Deliveries are made in the City and Town of Geneva, Monday through Friday, year round, excluding major holidays (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.)  A Mobile Meals volunteer arrives at the hospital at 10 a.m. and the route takes approximately 1-2 hours, depending on the number of recipients. Drivers provide their own cars and must have a valid NYS driver’s license (mileage is tax deductible.) Servers take the meal to the door.

The Mobile Meals program provides two nutritious meals each delivery day as well as personal contact for people whom otherwise might become isolated in their own homes. For more information about how to become a volunteer, call Christen Smith in the Community Services department at Geneva General Hospital, (315) 787-4065.
