Canandaigua Farmers Market
8:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Every Saturday from June 7th through October 25th the Canandaigua Farmer’s Market vendors offer farm fresh and local products including jams and jellies, mustards and maple syrup as well as mountains of fresh salad greens, brightly colored vegetables, sweet smelling flowers and plants, freshly baked goodies and golden local honey – just to name a few of the goodies available each week.

 It is the 13th year of operation and its Ontario County's only farmer-run market.  The Canandaigua Farmers Market is an association of farmers and small scale food processors consisting of approximately 30 vendors who live within a limited radius of Canandaigua, NY.

The market hours are from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM each Saturday and is located in the pavilion on Mill Street, one block east of Main Street and runs from June 1st to Oct. 27th rain or shine from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm.  Just follow the yellow Farmers Market signs.  Sign up for a weekly email that will tell you what special items will be available that week – or learn more about the vendors by clicking on the   “meet the vendor page” on the market’s web site at www.canandaiguafarmersmarket.com   or like the Canandaigua-Farmer’s Market on Facebook.

Fall into Canandaigua

  “Fall into Canandaigua” is an annual event offering family-friendly and fun seasonal activities, including a costume parade and contest, photo-ops and a meet and greet with characters from the movie “Frozen,” a pumpkin carving station, a pony-petting zoo, horse drawn wagon rides, the YMCA’s Jack-O-Lantern Jog 5k and Kids Run, crafts, live music, face painting, and more. The event is free and open to the public. 

Other event highlights include a community food drive to collect non-perishable items for the Salvation Army’s Emergency Food Cupboard. Attendees may register to win $100 downtown gift certificates. Downtown merchants will showcase fall specials and in-store merchandise. 

Event organizers include the Canandaigua Business Improvement District and Canandaigua Downtown Merchants Association. Sponsors include: Canandaigua YMCA, Child & Family Resource Center, Renewal by Andersen of Rochester and Buffalo, Sweet Expressions, and Unique Toy Shop.

Ron was diagnosed with MS in 2005. He needs medical equipment in order to walk again. Insurance is not covering the equipment. Lets help him raise the money needed. Bring your bottles and cans Saturday. Hope to see you there!

They will continue to collect for Ron after Saturday. Just let them know it is a donation for Ron Buckley.

CHURCH FALL BAZAAR

The First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo is having their annual Fall Bazaar on Saturday 11/1, starting at 10:00 am.  The address is 42 East Main St. Waterloo, with plenty of parking in the back of the church.  There will be a raffle with first prize $150, second prize $50 and third prize, a new handmade Christmas Quilt.  Vendors, a bake sale and a delicious lunch will round out the day.

Meet and Greet with Jim Augustine, filmmaker of Club 86: A Documentary

Club 86: A Documentary introduces audiences to a fascinating time in American history when music knit our nation together, one supper club at a time. The documentary tells the story of the eponymous supper club that attracted some of the biggest names in music to the small town of Geneva, New York in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The film features firsthand accounts of the club as provided by local residents and an original score by Emmy-Award winning composer, Kevin McDaniels. The film also includes a special performance by world-renowned jazz and soul singer Robin McKelle of an original song, ”If These Walls Could Talk,” which McKelle wrote in honor of the club’s rich history and premiered live at Club 86 during filming. The film aspires to raise awareness and garner interest in Jim Augustine’s forthcoming feature film inspired by the supper club.

Copies of Club 86 DVDs will be sold for $20 and will be available at the meet-and-greet event. Half of the proceeds from those DVDs sold at the Geneva Historical Society will benefit the Society’s work to preserve Geneva’s stories, like that of Club 86. The DVD includes two hours of content—the documentary, director’s notes, a behind-the-scenes tour of Club 86, a music video of ”If These Walls Could Talk,” and a slide slow of images of Geneva’s history.

Candor Cheerleaders Fundraisers

Fall Mansion Mysteries

  The year is 1913. Prohibition is looming and there is opposition to the male-only vote to incorporate Canandaigua into a city. Suffragettes, those campaigning for women to have the right to vote, are active. A world-famous opera singer is visiting Mrs. Mary Clark Thompson at Sonnenberg. There is a bit of a “Downton Abbey” flair to the Sonnenberg house help and of course, there is a mystery to be solved… 

This year’s Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park autumn whodunit play, The Big Smear, was written in collaboration by Joanne Vanderven, Wendy Hubert, and Glen Wyand with assistance from Sonnenberg historian Barb Stahl. The 3-act play is approximately 90 minutes of fun and interactive live theater where the audience is invited to interview the actors and cast their votes for the guilty culprit or culprits. New to this year’s drama is an added bit of color to the characters and dialogue that is sure to be familiar to all Downton Abbey fans.  

The Friday and Saturday night Mansion Mysteries performances start at 7 p.m. and will be held on October 24, and 25. Gates open 30 minutes prior to show time and guests will be taken via tram service to the Mansion where the performance will take place. Light refreshments, hors-d'oeuvres, and desserts along with a cash wine bar will be provided. Non-alcoholic beverages are also available. Guests are welcome to further participate, if they so desire, by attending in period costume. 

Tickets for the shows are $24 for Adults and $20 for Sonnenberg Members or Youths (ages 12 – 18). Advance reservations are required as seating is limited and the shows sell out by performance night. Reservations should be made by phone at (585) 394-4922 or online at www.sonnenberg.org.
