Preserving Your Family Heirlooms:  Seminar by Peter Wisbey

Date:      Sunday, May 20, 2012

Time:     2 PM

Where:  Willard Memorial Chapel, 17 Nelson St., Auburn, NY

The Community Preservation Committee/Willard Chapel will present a seminar on preserving family treasures by Peter Wisbey, curator of collections for the Genesee Country Village & Museum in Mumford.  Mr. Wisbey will give practical tips for safely polishing silver, boxing important costumes and textiles and storing paper documents.  Visitors are invited to bring an object for an informal “how to” as time allows.  A list of archival suppliers and other resources will be available.

Peter Wisbey has over 25 years’ experience in the museum field as a curator, administrator and consultant.  He was curator at the Genesee Country Village & Museum from 1996-2000 before serving as the first executive director of theSewardHouseMuseuminAuburn.  In 2011, he rejoined Genesee Country Village & Museum where he is responsible for the care of 68 historic buildings and their contents.

This event is free and open to the public and coincides with National Preservation Month and New York State Heritage Weekend.
