Lake-to-Lake Quilt Guild Presents Spring Quilt Show at New Location


Join the Lake-to-Lake Quilt Guild at the Phelps Community Center for quilt show, May 16 and 17, 2014.


Phelps, NY  (May 16 & 17, 2014) – The Lake-to-Lake Quilt Guild’s biennial quilt show, “Bloom Where You’re Planted: Spring into Color,” will be held Friday, May 16,2014, 9:30 am to 5 pm, and Saturday, May 17, 2014, 9:30 am to 5 pm, at the Phelps Community Center (8 Banta Street, Room 207, Phelps, NY 14532). Admission is $5.00 per person.


The “Bloom Where You’re Planted: Spring into Color” Quilt Show will feature over 200 quilts, art quilts and textiles made by guild members. Enjoy a gift gallery, merchant booths, door prizes and daily demonstrations. This year, with the encouragement of the Phelps Community Center, the guild will present an “Introduction to Quilting” from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday, May 17. Contact the Phelps Community Center at 315-548-8484 to sign up in advance. Visitors are also invited to try quilting at this year’s all new interactive quilt display.

Please help us congratulate Marie Peek, 2012 Honorary Member, and Janet Howard our newest Honorary Member for 2014. See a special exhibit highlighting the talents of both Marie Peek and Janet Howard at the “Bloom Where You’re Planted: Spring into Color” Quilt Show. Honorary guild members are chosen for the work they do to promote and preserve the art of quilting.


Fabric Postcard Sale, Quilt Raffle and Trunk Show

Stop by the Fabric Postcard Sale to purchase a miniature art quilt made by guild members. These ingenious fabric cards are suitable for mailing or display. While selecting your postcard, purchase $1.00 raffle tickets to win our “Finger Lakes Galaxy Quilt” (90” x 108”); paper pieced by members of the guild, top assembled by Janet Wilhelm and long arm quilted by current guild president, Val Schultz. The proceeds from these two projects will be donated to Milly’s Pantry, Penn Yan, New York. We will also have little purses on sale with the proceeds to benefit Safe Harbor of the Finger Lakes. 


Linda Hunter, noted Quiltmaker and Quilting Teacher, will be giving a trunk show and lecture about Scrap Quilting with 5” squares on May 16. On May 17 she will be participating in a bed quilt turning. Both of these events will be at 2:00.


Phelps Community Center will be offering a luncheon menu both days.

Lake-to-Lake Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of the month, year-round at the Gorham Methodist Church, South Street, Gorham, NY.
