Farm Disaster Preparation Certificate
Thursday, January 30, 2014
9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Cornell Cooperative Extension Center
480 North Main Street, Canandaigua, NY 14424
Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Farm Disaster Preparation Certificate course will help farm owners become better prepared for everyday or even larger farm disasters. We use this class to encourage farm owners to actively adopt planning and money-saving habits to:
• Prevent vehicle and roadway incidents
• Disaster-proof farm property
• Keep the farm going when the power is out
• Protect livestock and human safety
• Thwart and effectively report crimes
• Handle weather emergencies better than ever
The Farm Disaster Preparation Certificate is directed to all sizes of farms and all types of products. Dairy and livestock farms are especially encouraged to participate in the program due to their additional concerns regarding animal agriculture. This program is unique in that it presents an opportunity for a discount on some farm insurance policies. Several farm insurance companies in New York are recognizing the Certificate and will provide an incentive for farm owners to participate in the training program.
Fee: $35.00 per person includes the full course, lunch, and handouts. Registration requested by January 28, 2014 - the insurance policyholder is required to attend and other farm personnel are welcome.
