Canning Workshop iCal

Tuesday, October 15 2013 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

As the end of the harvest approaches you may be struggling to find ways to save your surplus of fresh vegetables and tomatoes from the great summer season. The Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension is hosting a canning and food preservation workshop from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16 in their office on the third floor of the Main Street Shop Centre in Waterloo. Come learn the basics of preserving fresh produce and the science behind canning food.

There will be a hands-on demonstration of how to can pickled vegetables in a hot water bath and a stewed tomatoes recipe using a pressure canner. A master food preserver will be leading the workshop.

The cost is $10 for the first person and $5 for each additional person from the same household.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required to attend. To register, call 539-9251 or email seneca@cornell.edu.
