SEA PADDLE NYC RETURNS TO FOR SEVENTH YEAR ON AUG. 9
BROOKLYN BRIDGE — On Aug. 9, the Surfers’ Environmental Alliance will once again stage SEA Paddle NYC, a stand-up paddle charity race that includes an elite 25-mile course around Manhattan and a 5-mile loop in the Hudson. Paddlers and teams each raise a minimum of $1,000, with proceeds going to autism, environmental and Hurricane Sandy relief causes. Big wave legend Darrick Doerner will be again participating in the paddle.
The event kicks off with registration at 7:30 a.m. at Brooklyn Bridge Beach. All proceeds from the race will be given to charities including POAC, Autism Family Services of New Jersey, Surfers Healing, Best Day Foundation, The Shore Center and Virginia Autism Project. Immediately following the Paddle will be the Aloha Party (former White Water Evening), held at Chelsea Brewery Company at Chelsea Piers. Open to the public, the event will include live music, food and refreshments.
Pre-registration will be held on Thursday, Aug 8th at the South Street Seaport followed by a party at Beekman Beer Garden with SEA Paddle sponsors Dos XX, Vita Coco, Faherty Bros. and more!
Paddlers are encouraged to register now and start fundraising. All registration information can be found at http://seapaddlenyc.seasurfer.org. Information on non-paddle donations, tickets to the Aloha Party and links to all things SEA Paddle can also be found on SEA’s site. See you there!
