On Saturday, May 11th a Day of Caring/Chicken BBQ will be held from 12 noon to 6pm at the Gorham Intermediate School, 2705 State Route 245, and will benefit the Morgan Smithling Care Fund to help defray her ongoing medical expenses. Morgan is a Marcus Whitman 6th Grader battling Ewing's Sarcoma. The Day of Caring will feature a Chicken BBQ, Bake Sale, Cake Wheel, Rummage Sale, Raffle, Kids’ Activities, T-shirt and Bracelet Sales, Live Entertainment and a Live Auction. Chicken BBQ dinners include: chicken, potatoes, salad, roll, butter and a drink. Pre-sale tickets are available from: Crown Jewelers, Sweet Expressions, Total Body Image, Don’s Inn and all Marcus Whitman schools for $10 each. The Live Auction will begin at 5pm in the school gymnasium and will feature: gas grill, electric start 8,000 generator, Stihl backpack blower, flat screen TV, handmade Mennonite blanket, Handmade toy box, unicycle, fruit and flowering trees, kids all terrain wagon, pod kit, Kindle Fire,Gander Mountain lawn chair, Stihl weedeater, and MORE! Cash and personal checks with proper ID will be accepted at the auction.
