CortlandWorksCareerCenter Announces Skilled Trades Fair

Cortland, February 26, 2013  A forum will be held on Tuesday,  March 5^th at CortlandWorksCareerCenter for anyone interested in becoming a skilled trades worker.

The event, which is free, is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00p.m at the Center, 99 Main Street, downtown Cortland.  Representatives from 10  skilled unions  will be on hand to discuss career opportunities and how to apply for jobs in their trade.  There will be a panel discussion beginning promptly  at 1:00 followed by opportunities to speak with representatives from the unions.

Among the trades to be represented at the forum:  ironworkers, painters, plumbers, tapers, glaziers, carpenters, laborers, operating engineers, laborers, bricklayers and crafts workers.   

Union  representatives will talk about how to get into their trades, what their jobs entail and what is involved in the selection process.

This event is sponsored by the Cortland Works Career Center Business Services Team, with membership including Cortland County Employment and Training, NYS Department of Labor, JM Murray Center and Employment Connection, ACCES-VR, OCM BOCES, OTDA and TompkinsCortlandCommunity College.  Reservations for attendees are appreciated and can be made by calling 607-756-7585.
