Geneva, NY - It may be winter, but before you know it, we will be feasting on sweet, ripe strawberries and other seasonal delights. Preserving fruits and vegetables gives us the opportunity to enjoy the harvest all year long. This class is designed for individuals who are interested in learning how to can and freeze local fruits and vegetables but don't know where to start. Learn about different home food preservation methods such as: canning, pickling, jams and jellies, freezing and drying; what equipment is needed for each method and the costs involved. Find out when different fruits and vegetables are ready for harvest and how to obtain what you need to get started.

Fee: no charge as it is an informational workshop.

However, registration is required. Please register by January 16, 2013 by calling Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ontario County at 585-394-3977 x 427 or email Nancy at nea8@cornell.edu with your name, address, and phone number.
