Introduction to Home Food Preservation Basics

This introduction to Home Food Preservation will be conducted by Hope Galens, Local Food Educator with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ontario County. The class is designed for individuals who are interested in learning how to can and freeze local fruits and vegetables, but don’t know where to start. Come learn about different home food preservation methods, canning, pickling, jams and jellies, freezing and drying. You will also learn about what equipment is needed for each method and the costs involved. There will be information on when different fruits and vegetables are ready for harvest and how to obtain what you need to get started.
