Learn to Preserve the Harvest
Thursday, August 23 2012 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Is your garden overgrowing with tomatoes? Too many zucchini and peppers? Are you wishing you could buy more of those yummy peaches at the farmers market and somehow enjoy them come winter? Then Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension (SCCCE) has just the workshop for you! The sixth workshop in the series called “From Planning to Canning: Workshops to Prepare You For a Great Gardening Season” is scheduled for 6:30PM to 7:30PM on Thursday, August 23rd at the Seneca Falls Library, 47 Cayuga Street.
Come learn about canning your harvest including the different equipment needed, food safety, and recipes. We will discuss pressure canning, boiling water bath canning, along with freezing and drying as food preservation options.
If you have not yet registered, please do so as soon as possible by calling the Seneca Falls Library at 315-568-8265 or Seneca County CCE at 315-539-9251. The program is free of charge thanks to the Friends of the Library.
