SUMMARY:Shooting Sports Open House
LOCATION:
DESCRIPTION:Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development is launching its new Shooting Sports program with an Open House on Sunday, November 11th from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the Kuneytown Sportsmen’s Club, Hoster Rd in Fayette (near Seneca Stone. Follow signs from Rt. 414). The event is open to boys and girls ages 9 to 19 who are interested in shooting & the conservation of natural resources. 4-H Shooting Sports is just one of the many 4-H programs that provide an array of activities & events that foster positive youth development.
The day will give participants a chance to sample a few of the disciplines that are offered through NYS 4-H Shooting Sports. Youth will rotate through stations where they will experience air rifle, archery, living history, and hunting/wildlife. When the program is fully implemented there will also be instruction in muzzleloading, rifle, and shotgun. In the Shooting Sports program youth learn marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms, the principles of hunting and archery, and much more. The activities of the program and support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills, self-worth, and conservation ethics.
Space is limited to 32 participants and registration prior to the event is requested in order that necessary paperwork is completed. Registration fee for the Open House is $5 per youth. If registrants are not already enrolled as 4-H members 4-H enrollment paperwork must be completed in order to participate. 4-H enrollment information is available at www.SenecacountyCCE.org. Individuals can register for the event by calling the Seneca County CCE office at 315-539-9251, e-mailing seneca@cornell.edu, stopping at the CCE office at 308 Main Street Shop Centre in Waterloo, or on-line at https://reg.cce.cornell.edu/ssoh_245.
