Union Springs Man Charged After Allegedly Damaging Maple Grove Cemetery

Waterloo Police Dept arrested Earl J. Heath, age 31, residing at 4 Park St, Union Springs NY, following an investigation into damage at Maple Grove Cemetery off West Wright Ave in Waterloo that happened on 8/27/13.


Witnesses reported observing Heath's truck leave the roadway and enter the cemetery through the grass, running over and damaging several different tombstones and grave markers before getting stuck.  Heath was then observed to cause even more damage to the cemetery as he was freeing his truck and then fled the scene with witnesses following him.


Heath was charged with Criminal Mischief 2nd degree (Class D Felony), Cemetery Desecration 1st degree (Class E Felony), Leaving the scene of a Property Damage Accident and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign.  The estimated damage caused in the cemetery is over $5000.


Heath was picked up on a warrant and arraigned in Waterloo Village Court.

He was sent to SCCF on $1500/$3000 bail.
