Palmyra Man Hurt in Accident

On August 15th, 2013 at 8:46 PM, Ontario County Sheriffs Deputies investigated a Personal Injury MVA at the Eaton Corporation located at 1920 State Route 96 in the Town of Phelps, NY. Deputies state that 50-year old Gerald Beman of Palmyra was operating his 1999 Ford Pick up truck in the Express Mart Parking lot on Route 96 in the Town of Phelps, and while doing so he drove out of the lot and into the lawn of the Eaton Corporation which is located east of the Express Mart. Beman struck an earth embankment with his truck, and then continued on striking a tree. The vehicle then continued into a cement curbing and shrubs located in front of the building where it came to rest.

Beman sustained head and facial injuries as a result of the accident. He was flown by Mercy Flight Helicopter to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The Phelps Fire Department assisted at the scene of the accident.

Deputies attribute the accident to a possible medical condition or event prior to the accident. No summonses were issued.
