Car Drives Another Car into Phelps Building

On January 13^th_}2013 at approximately 2:51 pm. The Ontario County Sheriffs Office along with Finger Lakes Ambulance and Phelps Fire Dept., responded to a two car motor vehicle accident with injuries. The accident was located at Main St and Exchange St in the Village of Phelps,

A Red Dodge mini van driven by Curtis Blackman struck a parked unoccupied Ford sedan on Main St. According to Mr. Blackman, he was westbound on Main St. (SR 96) when he fell asleep and drifted out of the lane and struck the parked car. His vehicle then continued to push the vehicle into a light pole and up on to the sidewalk, into a building.

Mr. Blackman and his passenger, Brenden Kauder were transported to Geneva General Hospital by Finger Lakes Ambulance with complaints of head and neck painn and are expected to be released. Mr. Blackman was ticket for failure to obey a traffic control device and will appear in the Town of Phelps Court at a. later date to answer to the charge.
