On 12/28/12 at 2:48pm, Yates County emergency personnel were called to a reported structure fire at an address on Chubb Hollow Road in Himrod. The occupants of the residence, 71-year old Paul Hoover and 70-year old Leah Hoover noticed smoke coming from the basement area of the residence. They were able to evacuate the residence and call 911 from a neighbors residence. Dundee Fire & Ambulance were assisted at the scene by: Himrod, Penn Yan, Benton, Dresden, Tyrone, and Wayne Fire Departments and Medic 55. Branchport, Hall, and Watkins Glen Fire Departments assisted covering for those departments at the scene. The interior of the house received fire/water/smoke damage. The investigation into the cause of the fire was turned over to the Yates County Fire Investigation Team.
