Suspicious Car Accident Involving a Child Leads to Arrest

On 05-29-14 at 7:48pm Ontario County Sheriffs Deputies responded to State Route 488 in the Town of Hopewell for a single vehicle crash. Mark Yeatts was operating his 2004 Honda eastbound. His vehicle left the north side of the highway, struck a tree, traveled west through a yard and continued into a field. Mark's four year old daughter was riding in the rear of the vehicle in a car seat. Finger Lakes Ambulance transported her to Clifton Springs Hospital to be checked over for a contusion on her head. Clifton Springs Fire also assisted at the scene. During their investigation into the crash Deputies discover that Mark Yeatts was operating his vehicle under the influence of drugs. He was arrested for Aggravated DWI with a child less than fifteen years of age in his vehicle. This section is referred to as Leandra's Law and is a class E felony. Mark Yeatts was issued an appearance ticket and is to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
