Two Penn Yan residents have been arrested in connection with two area churches being broken into and vandalized.
28-year-old Michael Badamy has been charged with burglary and criminal mischief, both felonies, after he and 18 year old Tiffani Hand allegedly broke into two area churches and vandalized property inside. Badamy also faces charges of burglary, petty larceny, criminal trespass and five counts of criminal mischief by village police. Hand is charged with burglary.
The pair is accused of breaking into the Penn Yan United Methodist Church Memorial Building shortly after 1 Thursday morning and damaging windows, doors, antique furniture, and cabinets once inside. They are then accused of breaking into a church on Flat Street in the town of Benton and damaging property.
Due to his previous convictions, Badamy was sent to Yates County Jail without bail, while Hand was jailed in lieu of bail. Additional charges are pending.
