A sergeant at a Southern Tier jail is behind bars after being arrested on burglary and drug possession charges.
Jonathan Edwards, who worked as a sergeant at the Tioga County Jail, is accused of stealing property from the county’s public safety building. The 36 year old Candor resident is charged with felony burglary, along with misdemeanor charges of official misconduct, petit larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance. It was not disclosed what Edwards allegedly stole.
Edwards, who has worked for the jail since 2012, was placed on leave pending further civil service proceedings.
