The long awaited Genesee Street paving project is getting underway. One point seven miles of road will be resurfaced from the North – South Street intersection in downtown Auburn to the city’s western boundary at Bluefield Road.
Beginning on June 22, you will be required to back in to parking spots. Engineering Superintendent Bill Lupien tells Finger Lakes News Radio it’s all about safety.
He adds backing in is easier than parallel parking, and safer than driving into the angled parking spots.
Overnight road work begins on Wednesday at 7:00pm and goes until 7:00am, starting with milling operations from the North/South Street intersection to James St.
You can expect alternating shoulder and lane closures and parking closures one block at a time. You can get more information at the city’s website.
