Gerald “Gerry” Patrick Carter, 51, died May 2, 2018 in Radcliff, Kentucky.
Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Romulus N.Y.
Gerald was born August 24, 1966 in Auburn, N.Y. to Frank and Dorothy (Backus) Carter. He was a graduate of Mynderse Academy in 1984 and was a veteran in the U.S. Air Force where he was certified in avionics and worked mainly on F-16’s. As a civilian he was an avionics mechanic and had certifications that allowed him to work on many types of aircraft from turbo prop airplanes to leer jets and Black Hawk helicopters. He worked for DynCorp at Fort Knox in Kentucky before his death. Gerry was also a certified gun trainer through the NRA, helped with the Wounded Warriors Project in Texas, loved hunting, fishing and shooting, and was a sports enthusiast.
He is survived by his father, Frank (Jeanette Rose) Carter; daughters Kaitlyn (Jeremiah) Johnson and Alissa (Tyrel Harmon) Carter; son, Austin Carter; brothers Curt (Brenda) Carter and Frank Carter; nephew, Connor Carter; grandchildren Heidi Sheffield, Alexandria, Rylee, Paityn and Remmington Harmon, and June Carter.
He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy in 2010.
