Bernard L. Pierce, Jr., age 71, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, on Wednesday (June 6, 2018) at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Friends may call Sunday, from 2 to 6 p.m., at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. A celebration of his life, will be held Monday, from 2 to 6 p.m., at Clifton Springs Country Club, 2721 Town Line Rd., Clifton Springs. Interment will be in Pine Bank Cemetery, Cheshire.

Bernie was born in Canandaigua and was the son of Bernard, Sr. and Audrey (Proper) Pierce. He was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy, class of 1965. Bernie retired in 2002, after 26 years as an electrician with the Canandaigua City School District. He was a member of the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Dept., for 51 years. Bernie was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, spending time with family and attending his grandchildren’s school events.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathy DeJohn-Pierce; mother of his children, Charlene Boyce; four children Debbie (Paul) Lamphier, Jodie Pierce, Julie Pierce and Bernie (Krista) Pierce; nine grandchildren Brittney, Brooke and Bradley (Bailey) Lamphier, Kaylee (Kevin) Oberer, Braydon, Olivia and Kady Pierce, Dominic and Anthony Vigneri; three great-granddaughters Isabella, Haley and Kaiya; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony and Connie DeJohn; brothers-in-law David (Judy) DeJohn and Bill Nixon; a niece and five nephews.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Kennedy Rose Pierce; and sister, Jeanne Nixon.
