Remember the Fonz on Happy Days? He was a pretty self-confident guy, so much so that it was literally impossible for him to admit he was wrong.
The Fonz would be right at home in today’s Republican party. As referenced in my previous column, unfunny comedienne Roseanne Barr lost the reboot of her ABC sitcom this week for her tweet about former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett.
To Republicans, what she tweeted was wrrrrrr, wrrrrr…..they just can’t say it. Instead, they’re digging up a Bill Maher joke about Donald Trump’s hair from earlier this year as proof that liberals do this sort of thing all the time and don’t suffer the same consequences.
Let’s see, joking about someone’s hair vs. comparing a black person to a lower form of primate. One of these things is not like the other.
Personally, I’d just as soon see a world in which making cracks about people’s appearance is no longer acceptable. Perhaps Republicans could lead the way to this more enlightened America. Maybe they could get President Trump to……oh, yeah, the guy who’s turned childish name calling into an art form. Never mind.
If you ask me, it looks the GOP has jumped the shark.
