Cayuga County Republicans on Wednesday endorsed Onondaga County Comptroller Bob Antonacci as their candidate for the 50th State Senate District seat. Antonacci had already received the endorsement of Onondaga County party leaders, and he tells Finger Lakes News Radio he’s grateful for the support of the grassroots party members.
He adds that he and Sen. John DeFrancisco, who is retiring after holding the seat for 25 years, are cut from the same cloth.
There likely will not be a primary for the Democratic party candidate in the 50th District. DeWitt Town Councilor Joe Chiarenza has dropped out, paving the way for West Genesee High School teacher John Mannion, who secured the party endorsements in April.
