Senate candidate Chele Farley announced Wednesday that she has earned the endorsement of Congressman John Katko in her campaign to unseat incumbent Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. Katko’s four-county district includes parts of Central New York and the Finger Lakes.
The latest endorsement comes on the heels of growing support from grassroots sources and elected officials across New York State, including former Governor George Pataki, Reps. Peter King (NY-2), Elise Stefanik (NY-21), John Faso (NY-19), Claudia Tenney (NY-22), Dan Donovan (NY-11) and former U.S. Senator Alfonse D’Amato. D’Amato, an early backer of Gillibrand, subsequently threw his support behind Farley’s candidacy, he said, because Gillibrand “abandoned New Yorkers in her pursuit of her presidential ambitions.”
“I’m thrilled to support Chele Farley for Senate,” said Congressman John Katko. “I left a 20 year career as a federal prosecutor to run for Congress because I was fed up with the gridlock in Washington and believed our community deserved better representation. Since coming to Congress, I’ve worked to fight through that gridlock and be an effective representative for the hardworking families in Central New York. Chele shares that passion and is committed to standing up for communities across New York State to achieve results. I am confident that she will join me in being a strong voice for Central New York families, small businesses, farmers, and veterans in Washington.”
Farley thanked Katko for his support, saying, “Congressman Katko is one of our state’s most effective and toughest legislators. I’ll always prioritize the best interest of Central New Yorkers in Washington, and I’m grateful for Congressman Katko’s support in my race.”
